The Northern Cloudywing (horybes pylades) is an uncommon dark spread-wing skipper with mottled dark and light brown banding on the underside forewings and hindwings and some light frosting. From above they appear dark coffee brown with bold but small white markings and tan fringe. Southern Cloudwings are similar but I find them to appear lighter brown with much bolder and more extensive white markings and almost white fringe.
