Males have obvious dark dots on the ventral side bright orange hindwing, and females are slightly duller with dark dashes on the hindwing, and a darker forewing exhibiting a light bracelet. From above, males are fiery orange with a wavy contrasting orange and brown pattern near the forewing edge. Females are darker brown from above with variable orange markings.
