The Dun Skipper (Euphyes vestris) is our darkest grass skipper ranging from very dark brown in males to a bit lighter brown in females. They have a bit of a greenish hue to the head, thorax and abdomen at times. From above and below males are almost totally uniform brown, while females have light white flecking on the dorsal side forewings. These skippers are somewhat common but I’ve personally found them less frequently in the past few years.
