The Broad-Winged Skipper (Poanes viator) is a common large grass skipper with noticeably long wings colored with brown, orange and tan. There is a central light streak on the ventral side hindwing surrounded by variable, patchy markings which can be quite bold or somewhat blended. Only the extremely rare Brazilian Skipper is larger, so if you see a big grass skipper, especially close to a marshy area, it is very likely a Broad-Winged Skipper!!
